Total Time: 8 hours 15 minutes

  • 4 pounds pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

  1. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to make a dry rub.
  2. Rub the dry rub all over the pork shoulder or pork butt, covering it completely.
  3. Place the pork in a slow cooker. Pour the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth over the pork.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  5. Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  6. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the cooking juices.
  7. Let the pork sit in the slow cooker for an additional 15 minutes to soak up the flavors.
  8. Serve the pulled pork on buns or with your desired accompaniments. Enjoy!
